The Sacred Heart church on Church street in South Ottumwa, was
the scene Tuesday evening of a pretty wedding, the contracting parties
being ~BMiss Gertrude Hannon~b and ~BMr. Frank Peters~b, both well known young
people of our city. The marriage services of the Catholic church was
pronounced by Rev. Father Ward. The congratulations and well wishes
of many friends will attend Mr. and Mrs. Peters in their journey down
the stormy pathway of life, which is hoped will be abundantly strewn
with roses.

~BMrs. Gertrude C. Peters~I~i~b, 76, of 421 Center avenue, died today at
12:45 a.m. at Sunnyslope sanatorium.
The widow of ~BFrank C. Peters~b, she was born in Ottumwa, January
22, 1874, as the daughter of ~BDaniel and Libby Hannon~b. At one time a
resident of Centerville Mrs. Peters had made her home in Ottumwa for
the past 50 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church,
the Altar and Rosary society, the Catholic Daughters of America and
the American Legion auxiliary.
Mrs. Peters is survived by three sons, ~BDan Peters~b of Cedar Rapids
and Francis and John, both of Ottumwa; four sisters, ~BMrs. Margaret~b

and ~BMrs. A. P. Canny~b and ~BMrs. C. E. Mowery~b, both of Ottumwa; and five
grandchildren.
Her husband and two sons preceded her in death.
The body is at the Traul funeral home pending completion of
arrangements.

~BFrank Peters Dies; Railroader 47 Years~b
~BFrank C. Peters~b, 71, of 1309 East Second street, died at 7:30
a.m. today at the St. Joseph hospital.
The son of John and Margaret Peters, he was born February 28,
1877 in Ottumwa where he had lived most of his life. An employee of
the Burlington railroad for the past 47 years, Mr. Peters was a member
of Sacred Hearth Catholic church and of General Shields council, No
888 of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Peters is survived by his wife, Gertrude; three sons, Dan of
Cedar Rapids and Francis and John, both of Ottumwa; one brother, Ed of
Cedar Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Clara Booth of Ottumwa; and four
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Traul
funeral and at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church where a
requiem low mass will be conducted by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. M Walsh,
V. F. burial will be made in Calvary Cemetary.
Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.
Members of Sacred Heart and St. Mary's parishes will meet Sunday
at 8 p.m. at the Traul funeral home to recite the rosary. Members of
the General Shield Council, No. 888 of Knights of Columbus will meet
at their home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. to go in a body to the funeral home
to recite the rosaray.
